Getting Started

Up and running in minutes

Follow these steps to host your first event.

Install the App

Download and run the Windows .exe or macOS .dmg from the releases page.

Create a Game

Click "Create New Game," set the title, teams, logo, and choose a theme.

Add Events

Open the Event Editor and add rounds in any order. Each round type has its own config.

Sequence Your Show

Drag and reorder events in the Sequence Builder to craft your perfect flow.

Start the Game

Hit "Start Game" and control each round live from the host dashboard.

Export & Share

Use "Export Package" to download your quiz as a shareable JSON file.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own images and audio?

Yes! In the question editor, switch the Media Type toggle to Image or Sound and upload any local file. Files are embedded as base64 in the save file for portability.

How do I uninstall on Windows?

Open Control Panel → Programs → Uninstall a program, find "Quiz-Host Live" and click Uninstall. You can also use Settings → Apps on Windows 11.

Can I run it without internet?

Fully offline. All data is stored locally. An internet connection is only required to load Google Fonts in the UI.

Can I use it with a projector?

Yes — run the app on your laptop and extend/duplicate to the projector screen. Use View → Full Screen for a clean audience display.

Can I save and resume a game later?

Yes. Press Ctrl+S or click "Save Game" at any time. Your quiz, sequences, and scores are all saved to your local .qmg file.

How do I import a quiz someone shared?

On the launch screen, click "Import" and select the .json file. The game loads immediately with all settings intact.

How do I reset scores mid-game?

Go to Game Info panel (in Setup) and scroll to the bottom. There's a red "Reset Scores" button that zeros out all team scores instantly.
